26th Annual Carmel Art Festival
Event Schedule May 17 - 19, 2019


All official Festival events will be held
in Devendorf Park in Carmel-by-the-Sea.
Admission is FREE.
Information on individual Gallery Receptions & Demonstrations throughout Carmel-by-the-Sea will be made available here on this website and in our official FREE Carmel Art Festival Program during the event.
"Buy Now" feature
starts 6PM on Friday, May 17, 2019.

The Silent Auction of past years will be modified in 2019 to include a "Buy Now" price on all competition paintings. You want a painting? If no one has bought it already, you can buy it right there and then from our "Buy Now" official. It's yours; however, you can't pick it up until Saturday, May 18, 2019 after 6:00 PM
The regular Silent Auction of unsold paintings will proceed until 6 PM on Saturday, May 18, 2019.

Throughout Monterey Peninsula:
  • Both days: Plein Air artists can be seen painting their competition paintings around the Monterey Peninsula.
    Devendorf Park:
  • Set-up only.

  • Plein Air artists can be seen painting their competition paintings.

    General Events: 12 Noon - 6 PM:
  • Live Music: Band TBA - 2:30 - 6:00 PM
  • Sculpture-in-the-Park exhibits by galleries in town.
  • Steven Whyte, creation of "famous person" sculpture - Day 1.
  • Information tent open.
  • For Sale: Posters, Totes, Hats & T-shirts.
  • Throughout Afternoon: Bring a picnic, dance, listen to music.

    Official Festival Events:
  • 2:00PM - 3:00PM - All 120 competition paintings arrive in Devendorf Park.
  • 4:00PM - 6:00PM - Judging of competition Plein Air Paintings.
  • All afternoon and into the evening: Paintings can be viewed FREE.
  • 6:00-9:00PM - By-invitation-only wine and small bites reception for those who have purchased art at past festivals. If you have not received our email invitation, please email us your contact information to carmelartfestivalvip@yahoo.com

  • 8:00AM - 4:00PM - See competition paintings.
  • 12Noon - 2:00PM - Vote for your favorite painting to become the "People's Choice"
    and the 2020 Carmel Art Festival Poster
  • 12Noon - 2:00PM - Juried artists vote for one of their own to become this year's "Artists Choice"
  • 5:00PM - - Plein Air Awards Ceremony.Come meet the artists!
  • 6:00PM -
    Close of Silent Auction. Competition paintings can be picked up.
  • 7:00PM - 9:00PM
    Many new paintings will be put up for sale (NO AUCTION), non-competition paintings that were painted by our 60 juried artists this week.


    General Events: 9AM to 6 PM:
  • Live Music: Band TBA - 11:00AM - 3:00PM
  • Sculpture-in-the-Park exhibits by galleries in town.
  • Steven Whyte, creation of "famous person" sculpture - Day 2.
  • Information tent open.
  • Posters, Totes, Hats & T-shirts available for purchase.
  • Afternoon: Come bring a picnic, dance, listen to music.
  • Kids-Make-Art: 12Noon - 3 pm: Kids Make Art, all ages by Youth Arts Collective.
    Online Purchasing: 12Noon - 4PM
    Can't be at the festival?
    No problem, we will be showing all 120 paintings entered in the festival.

    2-Hour Quick Draw, followed by Viewing & Silent Auction:
  • 9:00AM - 11:00Am - 15 winners will be seen painting throughout Carmel.
  • 11:00AM - 11:30AM - Viewing in Devendorf Park
  • 11:30AM - Silent Auction in Devendorf Park
  • Come meet the Winning Artists from the Festival.
    8:00AM - 3:00PM in Devendorf Park
  • Paintings for sale by our 60 juried artists (no auction).
    These are paintings also painted this week, but were not part of the competition.
