Winners of the May 13-15, 2022 Carmel Art Festival:

For the first time since 2019, the Carmel Art Festival was once again held in Devendorf Park in Carmel-by-the-Sea, attracting art buyers from near and far. Sunny weather held for most of the weekend, and the artists' exhibition paintings reflected this in their paintings.
Winners:
Paul Kratter took home the top prize. His striking piece, which captures the rocky shoreline with a peek of Carmel Bay, won over the judges.

Other winners include Terri Ford (2nd Place), Catherine Fasciato (3rd Place) and honorable mention recipients were Maria Boisvert, Susan Elwart Hall and David Savellano. Also receiving awards were Coraly Hanson who won the People's Choice and Founders awards--along with David Savellano (Artists' Choice) and Terri Ford (The Jennifer Hill Award), while Carl Bretzke, Cindy Wilbur and Sally Jordan all were given Randy Higbee awards.

Gretha Lindwood received the Mayor's Choice Award, and Sally Jordan was the winner of the Quick Draw contest, which required contestants to finish their pieces in two hours.

Plans are under way for next year, the Carmel Art Festival's 30th year since it was started in 1993. "We are planning next year to be really spectacular, with quite a few changes and upgrades," according to organizers Hella Rothwell and Ellen Wilson.
